Datrix Training has been delivering courses to businesses since 2001 and has one of the most extensive and reliable training schedules in the UK.

Description

This course is a combination of both the Foundation and Practitioner courses in order to complete the full course in just one week.  In the first 3 days of the course, we cover the PRINCE2 method and the Processes, Themes and Principles to a level that prepares delegates for the Foundation examination.  For each element, we cover what the element is, the purpose of the element and when and where in the process model the element is used.  The fourth day of the course we will dissect the management products used in each Theme and Process for full understanding of how they should be used to manage a project.

At the end of the course, a delegate will have achieved sufficient understanding of how to apply and tailor PRINCE2 in a scenario situation. A successful Practitioner candidate should, with suitable direction, be able to start applying the method to a real project but may not be sufficiently skilled to do this appropriately for all situations. Their individual project management expertise, complexity of the project and the support provided for the use of PRINCE2 in their work environment will all be factors that impact what the Practitioner can achieve.

A successful candidate should be able to apply and understand how to tailor PRINCE2 effectively to a project within an organization environment supporting PRINCE2. Specifically candidates should understand:-

Accreditation

This course leads to the PRINCE2 Practitioner level certification.  Delegates are prepared for the Foundation examination and will normally take this examination on the third day of the course.  The Foundation qualification is a pre-requisite for the Practitioner examination and will normally take this examination on the final day of the course.  However, we have found that some delegates may benefit from having time to digest all the information disseminated on the course, or to give themselves extra time to prepare for the examination.  To facilitate this, Datrix have arranged for candidates to book the Practitioner examination at a later date of their choosing.  This can be done at any time before 9-00am on the date of the scheduled examination.  If you would like to defer your Practitioner examination, or you would like further details, please visit the Exam Deferral page.

For further information regarding PRINCE2 examinations, please visit our Accreditation page.

Pre-Requisites and Pre-Course Preparation

There are no pre-requisites for this course.  However, it is anticipated that delegates will possess knowledge of projects or have experience of working in a project environment.  This is to ensure that the intensive nature of the course does not cause delegates to struggle through the course.  If such knowledge or experience does not exist, delegates may be advised to split the course into the separate Foundation and Practitioner courses.  The course may be booked as a single unit, to achieve the cost effectiveness, but schedule each course in different weeks.  Please call your local office for further details.

There is between 6 and 15 hours of pre-course preparation to be completed and it is vital to the success of the course that this work is completed.  The course is intensive and there will be no opportunity during the course itself to try and catch up.  The actual time taken by each delegate will vary enormously and will depend on the individual, their learning style, existing knowledge or skills, and project management experience.

In addition, delegates should allow for 2 to 3 hours of evening work on each evening during the course.  This is to allow consolidation of the learning provided during the day and to provide sufficient practice with the sample examination questions provided in order to pass.
