Course Information
This course will provide delegates with a complete and practical
understanding of how to apply the PRINCE2™ methodology in any
number of different scenarios. It includes the preparation for, and
the sitting of, the examination leading to the PRINCE2™
Practitioner Certificate, which is highly prized among employers
and project managers alike.
The course objectives include the practical implementation of the method and attention is paid as to how the method can be varied to suit many different types of project. Care is also taken to show delegates how to ensure the administration of the method is at a level appropriate to the project.
Pre-Course Requirements
There are no pre-requisites in terms of project management experience. Prior to the course, each delegate will be sent the PRINCE2™ pre course reading in pdf format in order that they become familiar with the PRINCE2™ concepts. The PRINCE2™ Managing Successful Projects with PRINCE2™ manual and the approved PRINCE2™ course ware will be issued on the day of the course.
It is essential to the successful delivery of this course that the pre-course work is completed. A large proportion of this pre-course work may be omitted where the delegate has achieved the Foundation Certificate.

PRINCE2 2009 Foundation Examination
The Foundation examination has had to undergo some significant
changes, mainly in the style and format of the questions. The
syllabus has been designed to match recognised standards in
education.
From June 2009 the PRINCE2 Foundation examination format will be:
• 1 hour
• 75 questions**
• Multiple Choice
• Closed Book
** including 5 trial questions
Whilst the candidates will see very little difference in the 2009 examination format, the questions will be worded somewhat differently and there are now standards in place that the examination board must adhere to.
In addition, each paper will contain 5 trial questions that will not count towards the candidates’ score. The purpose is to test questions before they are used “in anger” and will allow greater development of the database of questions.
DAY 4
• PRINCE2 Review, if appropriate
• Practitioner Exam technique / structure
• Practise examination questions
• Summary, Exam technique & Strategy
DAY 5
PRINCE2 2009 Practitioner Examination
The Practitioner examination was switched to the Objective Test
format in September 2007 and this format is to be used for the 2009
examination with effect from the 6th of July. All current
examination papers will undergo a quality check to ensure
conformance to the new syllabus for 2009.
The marking scheme has been simplified and the number of questions reduced. Standards are now in place for the maximum number of certain styles of questions and the time allowed for the exam has also been reduced accordingly.
There has been a lot of discussion in the user and training communities regarding pass rates and the pass mark. A workshop has been scheduled for the 5th and 6th of May 2009, at which the pass mark will be determined by consensus amongst the attendees. Once ratified by the APMG Examination Board, the same pass mark will be applied to the existing 2005 exams with effect from the same date – the 6th of July.
• 2.5 hour
• Objective Test
• 108 possible marks
• 55% pass mark
• Open book (PRINCE2 manual only)
Delegates should be aware that some evening study will be required on all four days, in order to assist in the successful completion of the examinations.
