Description

This course covers the same PRINCE2 method and the Processes, Themes and Principles as the Foundation course, but to a much greater level of detail in order to prepare delegates for the Practitioner examination.  In this course, we will dissect the management products used in each Theme and Process for full understanding of how they should be used to manage a project.  As you would expect, delegates should have attended the Foundation course, or have achieved the Foundation level accreditation (for any version of PRINCE2) before attending this course.

The purpose of the Practitioner qualification is to confirm whether the candidate has achieved sufficient understanding of how to apply and tailor PRINCE2 in a scenario situation. A successful Practitioner candidate should, with suitable direction, be able to start applying the method to a real project but may not be sufficiently skilled to do this appropriately for all situations. Their individual project management expertise, complexity of the project and the support provided for the use of PRINCE2 in their work environment will all be factors that impact what the Practitioner can achieve.

Candidates should be able to apply and understand how to tailor PRINCE2 effectively to a project within an organization environment supporting PRINCE2. Specifically candidates should:-

Accreditation

This course leads to the PRINCE2 Practitioner level certification.  Delegates are prepared for the Practitioner examination and will normally take this examination on the second day of the course.  However, we have found that some delegates may benefit from having time to digest all the information disseminated on the course, or to give themselves extra time to prepare for the examination.  To facilitate this, Datrix have arranged for candidates to book the examination at a later date of their choosing.  This can be done at any time before 9-00am on the date of the scheduled examination.  If you would like to defer your Practitioner examination, or you would like further details, please visit the Exam Deferral page.

For further information regarding PRINCE2 examinations, please visit our Accreditation page.

Pre-Requisites and Pre-Course Preparation

Delegates must have attended a Foundation course, or achieved Foundation level qualification in a previous version.  Delegates that did not complete their Foundation course with Datrix may not have all the necessary knowledge expected of attendees for this course.  In particular, this may apply to those looking to renew their Practitioner accreditation, but can also apply to those who took Foundation courses with other training organisations, online or CD-ROM based learning and self study.

Pre-course preparation for this course involves attempting a sample Practitioner examination paper available in our Downloads section.  You may wish to download the Pre-Course Reading file, as this contains an example of the style of questions you will face in the live examination, and try the Practitioner sample paper found at the back of this booklet before trying the Sample Practitioner paper.  This may well indicate that a more detailed refresher is required, in which case delegates should book the Combined Foundation and Practitioner course.

In addition, delegates should allow for around 2 to 3 hours of evening work prior to taking the Practitioner examination.  This is to finalise exam preparation and confirm understanding in any areas of uncertainty.
